ANZAC Friends
In world war 1+2 ANZAC people used all sorts of animals such as sniffer dogs, used to drag the sour wounded men to the aid, to carry small little crates across the snow, and the sniffer dogs always were used to carry some messages to the other opponents
war pigeons were used for messages to carry from the trenches to there family at home. In the war they used donkeys, horses, and even elephants for there heavy wait in construction, and for heavy wait transport.
Tortoises were used in the war so all the men had best friends, for comfort, and for love. In the war the most used animals that were used in the war were canaries+Rats because of their sensitive smelling. they were sent into the tunnels to sense poison gasses. To know if there is poison gasses they will come out fast, but if there is no gas they will stay.
So in conclusion animals are life savers, sensing poison gasses, and carrying the wounded.
Hey Holly,
ReplyDeleteWell done on this blog post it is really interesting and I learnt lots of things from just reading this text that tortoise was really lucky he got ran over and was nearly burnt that tortoise is still alive he is 200 years old.
Good job Holly
Your research on animals in the war is great Holly. Many animals were kept as pets and mascots for the soldiers. Horses were just as important as the soldiers, they are also remembered on ANZAC day ๐ด
